Melissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor and a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor. She is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). After receiving her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, Melissa earned her Master of Education Counseling degree from the University of Houston.
She has provided individual and group therapy to clients dealing with a wide range of concerns and diagnoses and enjoys working with clients of all ages. Examples include: depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, relationship/family issues, life transitions, and grief and loss. She enjoys working with children and their families who are medically fragile in conjunction with their medical staff and caregivers.
Although Melissa has been in private practice since 2014, prior to that she was the Bereavement Program Director for a multi-state healthcare company, and oversaw the bereavement program of 44 hospice locations. She worked closely with and provided counseling to the pediatric patients, patients with children in the home, and those patients and family members who needed additional support.
Melissa believes that we can all benefit from counseling, especially during certain seasons of our lives. She loves her bernedoodle, Nancy, traveling, reading and spending time with her friends and family.
