MELISSA RAMSEY

OWNER, EMDR, PLAY THERAPY

Melissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor and a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor.  She is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). After receiving her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, Melissa earned her Master of Education Counseling degree from the University of Houston.

She has provided individual and group therapy to clients dealing with a wide range of concerns and diagnoses and enjoys working with clients of all ages.  Examples include: depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, relationship/family issues,  life transitions, and grief and loss.  She enjoys working with children and their families who are medically fragile in conjunction with their medical staff and caregivers.

Although Melissa has been in private practice since 2014, prior to that she was the Bereavement Program Director for a multi-state healthcare company, and oversaw the bereavement program of 44 hospice locations.  She worked closely with and provided counseling to the pediatric patients, patients with children in the home, and those patients and family members who needed additional support.

Melissa believes that we can all benefit from counseling, especially during certain seasons of our lives.  She loves her bernedoodle, Nancy, traveling, reading and spending time with her friends and family.

BEN GRAHAM

Graduate student under the supervision of Melissa Ramsey

Ben is a graduate level counselor trainee under the supervision of Melissa Ramsey, LPC-S, RPT-S. After completing his undergraduate degree at Texas Lutheran University he obtained a Masters of Education in Special Education from the University of St. Thomas, and is now completing the Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling at Lamar University.

For the last two decades, Ben has worked in public schools with elementary, middle, and high school students. Most recently, as an Educational Diagnostician, he evaluated and helped place students with special needs in programs that support their learning and emotional needs. He enjoys engaging with kids on their level and values building a trusting working relationship with them. Ben has been involved with men's work individually and in groups and has a vision to offer that experience to more men and guide them to embrace themselves with compassion and courage.

Ben believes that everyone deserves to be heard and seeks to provide space for individuals of all ages to express themselves and grow. Outside of work, Ben loves to spend time with his wife, a blended family of six kids, and two rescues.

MARGARET MAGNESS

PLAY THERAPY, COUNSELING

Margaret is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Houston Graduate School of Theology and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology from Texas Christian University. 

Her professional experience includes individual therapy, group therapy, and parent education in a private practice setting. Margaret works primarily with young children, families and young adults. She is currently pursuing her Registered Play Therapy License to further enhance her skills as a therapist.

Margaret is passionate about early intervention, and the powerful impact it can have on a child’s life. Outside of the office Margaret enjoys spending time with her husband, sons and goldendoodle. 

LAUREN MCGUIRE

Graduate student under the supervision of Melissa Ramsey

Lauren is a graduate student under the supervision of Melissa Ramsey. She received her undergraduate degree in Child Professional Services from Texas A&M and is currently pursuing her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.

Lauren has spent the last few years working in schools and teaching English abroad. She has led many small groups with teen girls navigating life in junior and high school and is passionate about building trust and safety in relationships. Whether there have been times of rejoicing or mourning, she believes no experiences are wasted and no one should go through life alone.

In counseling, Lauren hopes the safety of the relationship built between the counselor and client can offer a space to be heard and cared for in the variety of life’s seasons. She deeply believes the beauty of counseling is found in a space free of judgment and shame where someone else can hold hope for you when it gets hard to hold it for yourself. Lauren loves going on walks and playing board games with her husband, spending time with friends, reading, and traveling.

NANCY

THERAPY DOG IN TRAINING

Nancy is an F2B Bernedoodle who has passed her Good Canine Citizen Test and is in the process of being fully trained as a therapy dog. She loves snuggles, driving with the windows down and playing with her best pals.
